MLB Trade Rumors: White Sox Linked To 4 Pitchers On Trade Market

Was that the Chicago White Sox tied for first place in the American League Central Division coming into the weekend? Yes, the same team that lost 100 games in each of the previous three seasons is staging a miraculous Cinderella season in 2026, with a 37-32 record, far above expectations.

But they shouldn't take their foot off the gas, and should certainly be buyers at the trade deadline — within reason. To that end, Christopher Kline of Fansided has proposed four trade targets to bolster the ChiSox' pitching staff.

Robbie Ray, San Francisco Giants

A free agent after the season, the former Cy Young winner is having a so-so season, but was an All-Star as recently as last year. The power pitching left-hander would be a dynamic veteran addition to the Chicago rotation and even serve as a mentor for their young ace, Davis Martin.

Casey Mize, Detroit Tigers

Mize is having a terrific season, with a 2.27 ERA in nine starts, and he was also an All-Star last year. He is on an expiring contract as well, but as Kline notes, the Tigers might not want to trade him to their division rival.

Reid Detmers, Los Angeles Angels

Detmers has had his usual roller coaster of a season, mixing in a few sensational outings with some absolute duds. He's coming off two electric starts, allowing just three hits and one run in 13 total innings. Detmers leads all AL starters with 10.8 K/9. As Kline notes, "Detmers' 4.00 ERA might not light up the screen, but he has a 2.87 xERA and a 2.87 FIP. He's been the victim of some brutal Angels defense behind him... There's some clear untapped potential here, and that, plus multiple years of control, makes the lefty a dream target."

Aroldis Chapman, Boston Red Sox

As opposed to a 'dream target', this one might be a 'pipe dream'. Chapman will be the top closer on the trade market, and there should be a bidding war to land him. But, "A late-game trio of Seranthony Dominguez, Grant Taylor and Chapman would be tough for any team to beat in October, and would be incredibly fun to watch."
