Devastating News For Yankees On Aaron Judge

Devastating news for the New York Yankees, who learned on Wednesday night that Aaron Judge will miss at least the next two months with a stress fracture of a rib.

The three-time American League MVP has been diagnosed with a stress fracture of the first rib on his right side. Insider Bob Nightengale says that Judge will undergo more imaging tests in four to six weeks to determine how he's progressing.

But he's not expected to be back at least until sometime in August, which Nightengale calls a "best-case scenario."

“Best hitter in the sport. And obviously, what he means to us. There’s a void there," said Yankees manager Aaron Boone. "We also have really good players who can pick it up, too.”

Judge has experienced discomfort over the past several weeks. It was initially diagnosed as a bone bruise near his right rib cage. But an MRI on Tuesday confirmed the tough diagnosis.

The 34-year-old has averaged over 50 home runs a season over the past four seasons, and for the past two years has led the majors in on-base pct. (.457), slugging (.695) and OPS (1.152). He has 17 homers with 37 ribbies and a .907 OPS this season. But with the issue bothering him, since May 11, Judge is 14-for-68 (.206) with one home run, eight RBIs and 19 strikeouts.

He obviously leaves a massive void in the Yankees' lineup.

At 37-25, the Yanks are 0.5 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays for top spot in the AL East. They've been without Judge for the last three games, and are 1-2 in that stretch.
