MLB Rumors: Phillies Linked to Cardinals Outfielder

The Philadelphia Phillies have had a tough start to the season. At the time of this writing, they have a 15-20 record and are fourth in the National League East. While this is the case, they have been trending in the right direction as of late, winning six out of their last seven games.

However, with the Phillies still having a losing record, it is clear that they should be looking to add to their roster. Because of this, they are now being linked to one of baseball's top trade candidate outfielders.

In a recent article for Sports Illustrated, Patrick McAvoy named the Phillies as the best trade fit for St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar.

With the Phillies needing another impactful outfielder, it makes sense that they are being connected to Nootbaar. He would have the potential to be a strong addition to their lineup as they look to turn their season around.

Nootbaar has yet to play this season for the Cardinals, but that is expected to change soon. In 135 games during this past season with St. Louis, Nootbaar had 13 home runs, 48 RBIs, and a .234 batting average.

It will now be interesting to see if the Phillies end up landing Nootbaar this season. There is no question that the fit looks good on paper.
