MLB Rumors: Giants' Luis Arraez Linked to AL East Team

Luis Arraez, Giants

The San Francisco Giants are having a rough 2026 season, as evidenced by their 14-23 record. Unless they turn things around quickly, the Giants are standing out as prime sellers for this year's MLB trade deadline.

If the Giants end up being sellers, Luis Arraez will be their top trade chip. The three-time batting champ has been having a strong season for San Francisco, as he has a .316 batting average in 34 games. With this, he should generate plenty of interest from teams looking to improve their infield.

Now, Arraez is being connected to a team in the American League East because of it.

In a recent article for FanSided, Chris Landers named the Tampa Bay Rays as the top potential landing spot for Arraez this season.

"Seemingly nothing has gone right for the Giants so far this year, but Arraez has quietly been a pleasant surprise — not for his offense but for his ability to hold his own defensively at second base. That broadens his appeal around the league, and the Rays could use some infield help as they hope to capitalize on the topsy-turvy nature of the AL East to date," Landers wrote.

The Rays could use another impactful contact hitter in the lineup, so it would make sense if they tried to swing a deal for Arraez. This is especially so when noting that the Rays have had a hot start to the season, as evidenced by their 25-12 record.

With this, the Rays could be a team to watch when it comes to Arraez this season. Yet, with Arraez having such a solid year and a very impressive resume, Tampa Bay will have a lot of competition if they decide to pursue him.
