MLB Rumors: 2 St. Louis Cardinals Trade Candidates to Watch
The St. Louis Cardinals have had a nice start to the 2026 season, as evidenced by their 19-13 record. However, with the Cardinals focused on the future, the possibility of them trading some of their players this season should not be ruled out.
Due to this, let's take a look at two Cardinals who could be on the move this offseason.
JoJo Romero
If the Cardinals decide to sell off some of their veterans this season, Romero will be a pitcher to keep an eye on. Contenders are always on the hunt for bullpen help, and Romero should generate interest because of it. In 15 games this season, he has a 0-1 record and a 4.20 ERA. However, he had a 2.07 ERA in 65 games for the Cardinals just last season, so that should lead to some teams calling.
Lars Nootbaar
Nootbaar has been a popular name in the rumor mill for a while, so he is another trade candidate to watch from St. Louis this season. The 28-year-old outfielder has yet to play this season, but he is expected to return later this month. When noting that he is a solid outfielder who provides a bit of everything, he should have multiple suitors leading up to the deadline. In 135 games last season with the Cardinals, he had 13 home runs, 24 doubles, 48 RBIs, and a .234 batting average.
