MLB Rumors: 2 Boston Red Sox Trade Candidates To Watch

Aroldis Chapman, Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox have had a very disappointing start to the 2026 season, as evidenced by their 12-18 record. With this, the Red Sox sit at the bottom of the American League East standings and are 8.0 games back behind the first-place New York Yankees.

If the Red Sox are unable to bounce back from their poor start and remain at the bottom of the standings near the trade deadline, they will surely be sellers this season. Due to this, let's look at two Red Sox who could be on the move.

Jarren Duran

Duran has been a popular name in the rumor mill for a long time now, and it has only continued to be the case this season. The Red Sox simply have too many outfielders, and he is a prime trade chip for the Red Sox to dangle to improve their roster elsewhere. In 26 games this season, he has one home run, 11 RBIs, and a .170 batting average.

Aroldis Chapman

If the Red Sox do not improve, Chapman could very well end up being dealt to a true contender at the deadline. Playoff teams are always on the hunt for relief pitchers, and Chapman's impressive resume would make him a very popular target. In nine games this season with Boston, Chapman has a 0-1 record, a 1.04 ERA, and 10 strikeouts.
