MLB Rumors: Red Sox Linked to Astros All-Star Infielder
The Boston Red Sox are having a nightmare start to the 2026 season, as evidenced by their 9-16 record. When noting that they entered the season with high expectations, this kind of start has certainly been disappointing. They have also been continuing to struggle, as they just lost each of their last three games to the New York Yankees.
With the Red Sox struggling so significantly early on this season, it would not be surprising if they worked hard to upgrade their roster. One of their biggest needs is a star infielder, and they are being connected to one of baseball's top trade candidates because of it.
In a recent article for Sports Illustrated, Patrick McAvoy named the Red Sox as a top landing spot for Houston Astros star infielder Isaac Paredes. Like the Red Sox, the Astros are having an ugly start to the 2026 season. Furthermore, Paredes has been in the rumor mill since the offseason, so it would not be surprising if the Astros listened to offers for him this season.
If the Red Sox landed Paredes, he would give them another solid hitter to work with in the front half of the batting order. He would also upgrade their infield, which is a major need for the AL East club.
Paredes had 20 home runs, 53 RBIs, and a .254 batting average during this past season with the Astros in what was his second straight All-Star year. With numbers like these, he would be a good pickup for a Red Sox team that needs a boost.
