MLB Rumors: Mets Linked to Potential Big Trade for Star Pitcher

Joe Ryan, Twins

The 2026 season has been a complete disaster for the New York Mets so far. After an offseason of spending, the Mets currently have a 9-19 record and are fourth in the National League East. This also included them losing 12 straight games from April 8 to April 21.

With how this season has gone for the Mets, they should be working quickly to improve their roster. It is clear that one of their top needs is another star pitcher in their rotation. Because of this, one starter who the Mets should be making a serious push for this season is Minnesota Twins star pitcher Joe Ryan.

When noting that the Mets need to improve their pitching rotation, it would make a lot of sense if they targeted Ryan. He would be an excellent addition to the front half of their rotation, as he is a star pitcher.

In six games so far this season with the Twins, Ryan has a 2-2 record, a 3.90 ERA, and 33 strikeouts. This is after he had a 13-10 record, a 3.42 ERA, and 194 strikeouts during his All-Star 2025 season.

It will now be interesting to see if the Mets can successfully acquire Ryan. If they did, he would certainly help improve their current pitching.
