LA Dodgers Linked to Blockbuster Trade for Cy Young Winner

Sandy Alcantara, Miami Marlins

The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a hot start to the 2026 season. It is not surprising, as they have won each of the last two World Series and only got better this offseason by signing star outfielder Kyle Tucker and star reliever Edwin Diaz.

The Dodgers have certainly made it clear that they are not afraid to make big moves to better their roster. As a result of this, they are now being viewed as a possible landing spot for one of baseball's top trade candidates.

In a recent article for Sports Illustrated, Patrick McAvoy made a trade pitch that would have the Dodgers land Miami Marlins star pitcher Sandy Alcantara in exchange for Josue De Paula, Mike Sirota, and Alex Freeland.

With the Dodgers needing another star starting pitcher, it would make a lot of sense if they brought in Alcantara. He would give them a former Cy Young Award winner and simply make them an even more difficult team to go up against.

However, with Alcantara having a strong resume, there is no question that the Marlins would want a major return for him in a potential move. With the Marlins focused on the future, De Paula, Sirota, and Freeland all could certainly grab their attention. This is because they all have a high amount of potential.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if the Dodgers end up swinging a trade with the Marlins for Alcantara from here.
