'The Martian' has looked somewhat otherworldly at times this spring, launching three homers with 10 RBIs in just 40 at-bats, while hitting .325 with a .978 OPS. He also stole three bases. He's shown some improved defense in the outfield as well.

But in the end, the writing was on the wall all spring with a crowded outfield picture for the Pinstripers, so the 23-year-old will head down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to to get everyday reps, until he's needed at the major league level.
No room in Yankees outfield for Dominguez, he heads down to AAA
The Yankees have a locked-in starting outfield of Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Trent Grisham. Their signing this spring of veteran Randal Grichuk was likely the final nail in Dominguez's coffin as far as breaking camp with the team.
However, the Martian may be beamed back down to the Bronx at any time. With DH Giancarlo Stanton's history of injuries, Dominguez should be getting the first call to replace him when the next IL stint for Stanton inevitably hits.
As Chris Kirschner of The Athletic points out, Dominguez wasn't a fully rounded player in his first full big league season last year. Against lefties, he hit just .204 with a .569 OPS. And his defense in left field? Minus-7 Defensive Runs Saved and a minus-10 Outs Above Average which ranked dead last in the majors for left fielders who qualified.
But he will be back. It's just a question of when.
