The Latest on the Explosive Tarik Skubal to Dodgers Trade Talk

The rumors began this week from an LA-based reporter. The Los Angeles Dodgers are engaged in talks with the Detroit Tigers about acquiring two-time Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal—the best pitcher in baseball. All that was said to be holding it up was having the Dodgers & pending 2026 free agent Skubal agree on a long-term extension.

KTLA Sports anchor David Pingalore was the first to drop this seismic rumor on Twitter/X this week. But David Pingalore is not a recognized national baseball insider like, say, a Jeff Passan, a Jon Heyman or a Jim Bowden. However, on Friday, we are hearing from ESPN's notable baseball writer Alden Gonzalez. And he writes that the Dodgers are certainly the team that could make a blockbuster Skubal move happen.

If there's one team with the capability to both trade for and extend Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, according to insiders, it's the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Gonzalez also reported that the Dodgers are not opposed to trading imposing 6'8" starter Tyler Glasnow, and he just happens to be the biggest name associated with the LA package that would be heading to Detroit if this rumored blockbuster were to happen.
