MLB Trade Rumors: Top 5 Trade Destinations for Freddy Peralta
Peralta finished 5th in Cy Young balloting in 2025, with a league-leading 17 wins, a 2.70 ERA and his third straight season with 200+ strikeouts.
To that end, there are five notable teams that would be top suitors for Peralta, as laid out by former MLB GM Jim Bowden in The Athletic.
Atlanta Braves
The Braves finished 22nd in the majors in team ERA in 2025. Given full health, they do have three potential aces in their rotation already going into 2026, with the Spencers, Strider and Schwellenbach, plus Chris Sale. Imagine adding Peralta to that trio.
Boston Red Sox
The BoSox came into the offseason looking to add another ace to their rotation, to pair with Garrett Crochet. They already traded for Sonny Gray, but at his advancing age, is he definitely the answer? If they're looking for a one-two punch to tread into the future with, down the road, then Peralta would be a tremendous addition—provided they could extend him as he enters the last year of hius contract.
New York Mets
Here's a team clearly looking for a rotation upgrade. They've already been linked to an ace from the American League, but Peralta would be an even bigger catch. They do have some top young pitching prospects with which to offer as part of a return to the Brewers.
New York Yankees
Another Big Apple franchise looking for another boost for their starting rotation, the Yankees fell short of their goal in 2025, and would love to bring in another ace-like arm to go with a returning Gerrit Cole (May expected return), Max Fried and Carlos Rodon.
San Francisco Giants
The Giants never pass up an opportunity to bid on the shiniest toy on the market, be it via free agency or trade. They pulled off a massive coup landing Rafael Devers this past season from Boston, could they now add a third big-time arm to their Logan Webb/Robbie Ray duo?
