Breaking: Former Blue Jays All-Star Alek Manoah Finds New Team for 2026

Alek Manoah was done dirty by the Atlanta Braves last month, as the team unceremoniously dumped him without offering him a contract. They had claimed him on waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays in September.

But Manoah—who was an All-Star and finished 3rd in Cy Young balloting in 2022—has now found a new home with the Los Angeles Angels.

It's a one-year, $1.95 million deal for the 27-year-old, a fully guaranteed standard major league contract.

Manoah was making his way back from Tommy John surgery this past season, and had posted a 2.97 ERA in seven rehab starts at Triple-A. But the Blue Jays suddenly DFA'd him in September.

It's been a rough ride for the one-time star over the past three seasons. He's been roughed up at every level of baseball, unable to rediscover the mojo that made him the ace of the Toronto staff back in '22.

The Angels, for their part, are taking a good low-risk, high-upside gamble. If Manoah can find the form that led him to that 16-7 season with a 2.24 ERA, they'll be laughing.
