MLB Rumors: 3 Teams To Watch In Pete Alonso Sweepstakes
Pete Alonso is one of the top free agents from this year's class. The 30-year-old had another season with good power numbers in 2025, as he hit 38 home runs and 126 RBIs. He also set a new career high with a .272 batting average and was named to his fourth consecutive All-Star Game.
With this, there should be plenty of interest in Alonso, so let's look at three potential landing spots for him now.
New York Mets
The possibility of Alonso staying put with the Mets should not be ruled out. There is no question that he has been a huge part of their roster for quite some time, and the Mets losing his kind of offense would sting. Thus, don't be surprised if the Mets aim to keep the fan favorite around.
Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox are looking to prove that they can be legitimate contenders, and bringing in a star power hitter like Alonso would help things on that front. He would offer their lineup with a major upgrade and would give them another impactful slugger to work with. Thus, it would make a lot of sense for them to make a big-time push for Alonso.
Seattle Mariners
Keep an eye on the Mariners in the Alonso sweepstakes. After just missing out on making the World Series, it would not be surprising if they are big spenders this offseason. A player like Alonso would strengthen their offense significantly, which would only make them a more difficult team to go up against.
