MLB Rumors: 3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations For Kyle Schwarber

Kyle Schwarber, Philadelphia Phillies

Kyle Schwarber is one of the most notable MLB free agents this summer. The 32-year-old is coming off a monster season at the plate, as he set new career highs with 56 home runs and 132 RBIs in 162 games for the Philadelphia Phillies. It was also the fourth straight season that he had at least 38 home runs.

With this, Schwarber should be a popular target this offseason. Thus, let's discuss three teams who could look to sign him this winter.

Philadelphia Phillies

Given the success Schwarber has had during his four-year stint with the Phillies, it is certainly possible the NL East club will look to keep him around. Schwarber and the Phillies have been an outstanding fit, and Philadelphia would feel the impact of losing his power tremendously if he signed elsewhere.

Boston Red Sox

Could the Red Sox look to bring back Schwarber? It is certainly possible. The slugger proved to be an excellent rental for the Red Sox during the 2021 season, and there is no question that they could use another star power hitter. Furthermore, with the Red Sox looking to build off their solid 2025 season, it would make a lot of sense for them to add another big-time star as they look to cement themselves as contenders for the 2026 season.

Cincinnati Reds

The Reds are another team to keep an eye on in the Schwarber sweepstakes. Cincinnati should be looking to improve their offense this offseason, and bringing in a three-time All-Star like Schwarber would provide them with just that. In addition, Schwarber is a Middletown, Ohio native, so the idea of playing for his hometown club could intrigue him.
