Morosi lists the following teams as interested in pursuing the two-time All-Star closer, one of whom will give Williams a lucrative contract in free agency:
- Boston Red Sox
- LA Dodgers
- Cincinnati Reds
- Detroit Tigers
- San Francisco Giants
The LA Dodgers' bullpen was obviously a weak spot for the team in their hard-fought World Series victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, and throughout their playoff run. They should be expected to make a big pitch for Williams.
The Reds will likely be losing their closer from this season, Emilio Pagan, to free agency, so they will be in need of a lockdown arm for the bullpen.
The Giants traded their closer, Camilo Doval, to the Yankees at the deadline, so they are in need as well.
Both of the Tigers' late-inning arms this season, Will Vest and Kyle Finnegan, are free agents, so they will be in the market.
For the Red Sox, if they could add Williams to Aroldis Chapman at the back end of their bullpen, they'd be tough to beat, taking a lead to the 8th inning or so.
