MLB Rumors: Dodgers Targeting Yankees Player In Free Agency

The Los Angeles Dodgers want another late-inning right-hander after a season where the bullpen wobbled during key stretches, and Devin Williams is a two-time All-Star with swing-and-miss stuff who finished 2025 on a scoreless run. 

Multiple reports describe mutual interest, and the Dodgers are expected to shop selectively for high-leverage help rather than overhaul a group that still projects well when healthy.

Why Devin Williams fits the Dodgers’ bullpen

Even in a down year with the New York Yankees, Williams missed bats at an elite rate and his signature changeup still generated ugly swings. The Dodgers value strikeouts in traffic and matchup-proof weapons, and Williams has both when his command is synced. 

A move to Dodger Stadium and a defense that turns more contact into outs could help normalize the ERA (although Dodger Stadium was one of the most hitter-friendly parks this season) while allowing the pitch mix to play to its usual ceiling. The role is flexible, too. He can close if needed or pair with existing arms to shorten games in October. 

Market and competition

The Dodgers are not alone here. Interest is wide across contenders, with the Boston Red Sox and Cincinnati Reds among the early suitors and the Miami Marlins also linked. 

That competition should set a healthy market, likely short of a top-of-class megadeal but robust enough to show Williams’ peak value and recent numbers.
