Baseball Insider Makes Bold Prediction for Bo Bichette's Future

As the Toronto Blue Jays continue their shocking and unexpected run this season, one of the players making the biggest contribution is Bo Bichette, who, like the team, is having his own resurrection in 2025 after a dreadful '24.

And while at the beginning of this season, it would have been hard to find anyone around baseball who believed that the pending free agent would be staying in Toronto past this season, now, it looks quite possible that he will. At least, according to MLB Insider and former GM Jim Bowden. And he has made a bold prediction of what Bichette's next contract will look like.

What will Bo Bichette's next contract look like?

“He’s going to get paid! He's going to get $170-180 million," said Bowden, "maybe more. Because on the open market, a lot of teams need a third baseman. He can play short, he can play third. So, there's gonna be a bidding war for him...

"Look, I think you needed to win for Bo to stay, and you did...

"But I think Toronto will step up and pay market for Bo, and I think Bo will stay."

Bichette is back to producing like the two-time All-Star he was in 2021 and 2023, with his numbers eerily similar across the board to what they'd always been before 2024 (save for stolen bases).

In fact, all of his stats are above his career marks. A .299 average (career .291), a .340 on-base pct. (career .333), and a .469 slugging (.467 career). His OPS of .809 is above his lifetime .800 mark.

After shelling out $500 million to keep Vladimir Guerrero Jr., are the Jays ready to hand out another $150M-$200M? We'll find out this winter.
