Significant Update on Jarren Duran Trade Talks with Red Sox & Padres
With the Boston Red Sox scrambling to hold down a Wild Card berth in the American League (leading the Texas Rangers by just half a game), trading Jarren Duran could have been a death knell for their postseason chances.
Now, according to insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today, BoSox fans won't have to worry about that eventuality.
The Boston Red Sox have no plans to trade outfielder Jarren Duran at the deadline, rejecting the San Diego Padres’ offers, and are more likely to move him this winter.
The Padres had been linked to a strong pursuit of Duran for much of this season, but it doesn't sound like those efforts will pay off, at least not for now.
Duran has done everything he can of late to convince Boston not to let him go, as he has continued his red-hot triples run, with a pair of three-baggers against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. He now has an American League-leading 12, and he also led the entire majors with 14 triples in 2024. Duran is the first AL player with 25-plus triples over a 250-game span since Curtis Granderson did it in 2007 and '08 with Detroit.
As for the Friars, they will now have to pivot elsewhere in their attempts to bolster their outfield. Names like Luis Robert Jr. of the Chicago White Sox, Adolis Garcia of the Texas Rangers, Baltimore's Ryan O'Hearn and Taylor Ward of the LA Angels are other trade options in the outfield.
