MLB Trade Rumors: Dodgers Land 2 More All-Stars in Massive Proposed Deal

Do the Los Angeles Dodgers have enough to go back-to-back with another World Series? They are tied for the best record in the National League, but hardly the runaway many pundits expected (albeit, largely due to an injury-ravaged rotation). They will be giving their roster a boost at the trade deadline, you can bet on that.

But where will they look to fortify their linuep? According to insider Ken Rosenthal, one of the areas that's for certain is in the bullpen.

“After investing a combined $107 million in free-agent relievers Tanner Scott, Blake Treinen, and Kirby Yates, the Dodgers are expected to pursue bullpen help, according to sources briefed on the team’s plans,” Rosenthal wrote.

Another spot the Dodgers could consider an upgrade at is in the outfield. Michael Conforto has been a bust, hitting just .184 with a .620 OPS.

But imagine if they could boost that .184 by 100 points, with an All-Star outfielder?

With that, we have a proposed blockbuster that could once again make LA the team to beat, without question. This hypothetical swap would bring the Dodgers two Cleveland Guardians All-Stars, and is brought to us by Jim Riley of Ballcap Sports:

LA Dodgers receive:

  • Steven Kwan, OF (2-time All-Star)
  • Emmanuel Clase, RP (3-time All-Star)

Cleveland Guardians receive:
  • Dalton Rushing, C (was LA's #1 prospect, now in majors)
  • Emmet Sheehan, RHP
  • Emil Morales, SS (#7 prospect)

The Dodgers get a three-time Gold Glover in the outfield and a two-time All-Star in Kwan, who brings a .285 batting average, 100 points better than Conforto.

In Clase, of course, they would get one of the top closers in baseball of the past several years, and he would join a bullpen that already includes two other closers in Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates, plus Alex Vesia and the returning Blake Treinen. Clase is a three-time All-Star, following up three straight 40+ save seasons with another fine year, with 20 saves and a 2.91 ERA for Cleveland.

Each of those Guardians stars have two more years of team control remaining, through the 2027 season. That's why the return must be a hefty one:

The Guardians get the Dodgers' top prospect heading into the season, catcher/1B Dalton Rushing. The power-hitting backstop slugged 26 homers in 115 games in the minors last season, and has been getting his feet wet this year in the big leagues.

Sheehan, 25, has looked terrific in his three starts this season, with a 2.03 ERA, while Morales, 18, is still in Rookie Ball, but is the Dodgers' 7th-ranked prospect.

This would be a major blockbuster, and it's never a good idea to discount the Dodgers' ability to pull something like this off.
