In his last seven starts, the 27-year-old has a 1.88 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. He burst onto the scene in 2022 with the Fish, with a 3.01 ERA in 14 starts. But blisters and a shoulder issue had slowed him the last two seasons. He's finally back at full health.
The Chicago Cubs and New York Mets are the "most interested" among several teams looking atCabrera, per Latin America baseball insider Francys Romero.
But he adds that the Marlins are expected to ask for a "strong" package, as Cabrera remains under an affordable, team-controlled contract through 2026.
Chicago Cubs
The Cubs have been looking for another impact starter for their rotation all season, after ace Justin Steele was lost for the year to season-ending elbow surgery after just four starts.
After top two starters Shota Imanaga and Matthew Boyd, the Cubs' rotation falls off significantly, especially with No. 3 man Jameson Taillon out for at least another month due to a calf strain.
New York Mets
The Mets' ace, Kodai Senga, is finally back in action as of Friday after missing a month due to injury, and Sean Manaea could be days away from his season debut. But if they could replace Frankie Montas at the back end of their rotation with someone like Cabrera, the Mets would be thrilled.
