Orioles Acquire Pitcher With Solid Career ERA From Braves
The Baltimore Orioles have reacquired right-hander Scott Blewett from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for cash considerations.
Outfielder Jordyn Adams was designated for assignment to clear space on the 40-man roster, while Ramón Laureano was activated from the injured list and replaces Adams on the active roster. Blewett has yet to report, so a corresponding move for his roster spot is still to come.

This marks Blewett’s second stint with the Orioles in 2025 and his fourth club overall this season. His return comes just one day after he surrendered five earned runs in 1.1 innings during the Braves’ brutal 11-10 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, squandering a 9-3 lead. The meltdown prompted Atlanta to recall veteran closer Craig Kimbrel and clear out bullpen depth—Blewett being the odd man out despite a serviceable 3.91 ERA on the season, thanks to a strong 56.3% ground-ball rate.
Blewett's Journey: From DFA to Baltimore (Again)
Blewett, 29, began the year with the Minnesota Twins, had a brief April run with Baltimore, then moved to Atlanta—only to now return to the Orioles. While his Braves ERA ballooned to 5.51 over 11 appearances, he’s shown enough to stay in demand. The former second-round pick has flashed promise with a 3.02 career ERA across 53.2 big league innings, even if his control and consistency remain question marks.

Orioles Shuffle Outfield Depth Amid Pitching Move
To accommodate the move, Baltimore DFA’d Jordyn Adams, a speedster who had just one plate appearance in five games as a defensive replacement. Though athletic with 20–40 stolen base potential, Adams has struggled to hit at higher levels, posting a .247/.326/.377 line in Triple-A since 2021. He still has one minor league option remaining and could be claimed or traded before the waiver period ends.
The Orioles continue to tweak their roster as they battle for AL East positioning, hoping Blewett can provide stability in middle relief—and maybe finally find a permanent home.
