Noah Syndergaard Back With MLB Franchise After 2 Year Absence

He was last seen in the major leagues posting a 6.50 ERA for two teams back in 2023. But former New York Mets flamethrower Noah Syndergaard is still hoping for a comeback, and he started on that path on Tuesday by signing a minor league deal with the Chicago White Sox.

After being a first-round selection by the Toronto Blue Jays, he was dealt to the Mets in the R.A. Dickey trade in 2012, and he went on to an excellent five seasons in Queens, before Tommy John surgery derailed his career in 2020. He missed essentially two full seasons.

His peak with the Mets came in 2016, when he went 14-9 with a 2.60 ERA, earned his only All-Star berth and finished eighth in the NL Cy Young voting.

He was never the same since coming back from the TJ surgery in 2022, and bounced around among four teams over the next two seasons, before sitting out 2024. He'll get his comeback underway for the White Sox at their spring training complex in Glendale, Arizona.

In an eight-year career, Syndergaard has a 3.71 ERA and 1.196 WHIP with an 8.9 K/9 mark.
