MLB Rumors: 2 Teams Ready To Pay Big Money To Sign Kyle Tucker This Offseason

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker hits the ball during 2025 game.

As Kyle Tucker continues to dominate in his first season with the Chicago Cubs, the buzz around his impending free agency is starting to intensify.

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Boston Red Sox and San Francisco Giants are being linked as serious suitors for the All-Star outfielder, joining the Cubs in what could become one of the most competitive bidding wars of the 2025-26 offseason.

With Tucker’s monster season and projected $500+ million price tag, his next contract could reshape any franchise that lands him.

Boston Has the Payroll - and the Motivation - to Strike Big

Boston’s interest in Tucker is directly tied to the financial freedom created by trading Rafael Devers to the Giants. Offloading Devers’ $313 million deal has opened up massive space under the luxury tax threshold, giving the Red Sox the ability to pursue a superstar bat.

Tucker fits the bill perfectly. Despite an outfield logjam that includes Roman Anthony, Ceddanne Rafaela, Jarren Duran, and Wilyer Abreu, Tucker’s elite left-handed bat would be a long-term cornerstone. Insiders suggest Boston could flip Duran or Abreu to acquire pitching, while locking in a lineup featuring Anthony, Rafaela, and Tucker for the next decade.

Giants Could Pair Tucker with Devers in a Lethal Lineup

While Boston clears space, San Francisco is adding stars. After landing Devers, the Giants reportedly remain interested in Tucker, especially if they believe pairing him with their new third baseman could vault them into true contender status.

The Giants are already operating with one of the league’s highest payrolls and seem unafraid of handing out another massive deal. The appeal? Tucker’s mix of power, defense, and speed could make him the perfect co-star to Devers and help drive a postseason return for a team that's been stuck in neutral since 2021.
