Baseball's Top Prospect, Roman Anthony Finally Gets The Call After 497-Foot HR

After his ridiculous 497-foot moonshot home run over the weekend, the game's top prospect is the talk of baseball once again. And this time, it's not just another massive blast: He's officially been called up by the Boston Red Sox.

He will be in the Boston lineup Monday night, batting 5th, per insider Ken Rosenthal.

It was only yesterday Rosenthal wrote a column pleading for the callup, saying the "Red Sox can’t waste any more time," and "If Anthony remains at Triple A one more day, the howling of Red Sox fans on social media and talk radio would be even more justified."

“I don’t say this lightly — I think he’s the best minor league hitter I’ve ever seen," Red Sox’ Abraham Toro said this weekend.

Anthony, 21, was batting .290 with a .421 on-base percentage, .495 slugging percentage, .916 OPS, 10 homers, 29 RBIs, and 49 walks against 55 strikeouts in 57 games for Triple-A Worcester.

He is the No. 1 prospect in all of baseball, according to both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline's rankings.

To make room on the roster, Wilyer Abreu is being placed on the injured list.
