Pirates Calling Up Baseball's Top Pitching Prospect

It's the long-awaited call-up Pittsburgh Pirates fans have been waiting for. The top pitching prospect in the sport has been summoned to The Show, and will make his major league debut on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs.

Skenes was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft less than a year ago by the Pirates. The 6'6", 235-pound right-hander is, as described by MLB Pipeline, an imposing presence on the mound. His fastball topped out at 102 mph while in college at LSU.

This season, he has a 0.99 ERA over 7 starts at AAA, a WHIP of 0.91 and a 45:8 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 27 innings.

He'll now join this season's other rookie pitching phenom already on the Pirates' staff, Jared Jones.

At LSU last year, Skenes struck out a ridiculous 209 batters in just 122 innings while walking only 20 for a 0.75 WHIP.

This should be some kinda fun to watch.
