MLB Trade Rumors: Nolan Arenado Will Accept Trade — “I Do Believe That”

The St. Louis Cardinals are off to another slow start to the season, sitting at 11–14 and in last place in the NL Central Division. Are their superstar infielders, Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt getting restless? According to MLB Insider Jon Heyman, he figures that 8-time All-Star Arenado might be ready to move on despite professing his allegiance to St. Louis when he decided not to opt out a couple of years back.

Arenado wants to win more than just about anybody. They are not winning, so he’ll go along with a trade. I do believe that. He had a chance to opt out, he didn’t do it. He thought the Cardinals would be winining as they’ve always been. They were not good last year, they’re not good again this year… If they don’t turn it around, I do believe that Arenado and Goldschmidt could be on the block.

As for where Arenado could be headed, Heyman does note that “He’s from Southern California and that’s been the rumour for a long time.” He’s obviously referring to the LA Dodgers and not the LA Angels who already have a couple hundred million dollars essentially thrown down the toilet at third base with Mr. 'I Don't Like Baseball' Anthony Rendon.

The Dodgers have Max Muncy playing third base this season, and Heyman does note that infield defense is one of very few Dodgers weak spots. Arenado is a 10-time Gold Glover and would certainly firm things up at the hot corner from a defensive standpoint.

We'll keep an eye on the Gateway to the West to see if we might have some superstar movement this summer.
