Stunning New Team Linked To Blake Snell

While there's been a lot of talk about Blake Snell and the New York Yankees, the San Francisco Giants and perhaps the Los Angeles Angels, a new surprising team has come into the conversation as the Houston Astros are now linked to the reigning Cy Young Award winner.

As noted by Chandler Rome of The Athletic, the Astros could be considering Snell as a top target to bolster their starting staff before the season begins. Given the fact that team owner Jim Crane coveted both Josh Hader and Snell at last year's trade deadline, and has already gone out and signed Hader, Snell could be next, says Rome.
Facing mounting questions about their depth, the Astros have remained engaged in the starting pitching market, multiple people with knowledge of the team’s plans told The Athletic this week. Given Crane’s already stated affinity for Snell, it stands to reason he may emerge as the club’s top target.
General manager Dana Brown was asked about the former San Diego Padres lefty on Thursday and replied, "as long as Snell is on the market, we check in to ask what is the latest. Nothing new as of now."

With Justin Verlander starting the season on the injured list, and both Luis Garcia and Lance McCullers Jr. still recovering from elbow surgeries and out until after the All-Star break, Snell would provide a major boost to the Houston rotation.
