Report: Yankees Make Trade Offer For Big Name Starting Pitcher
While everyone associated with the New York Yankees holds their collective breath while they await the results of Gerrit Cole's MRI on his elbow, GM Brian Cashman is apparently not taking any chances and has reportedly made a new offer for a big-name trade candidate on the starting pitcher market.
The Yankees, while awaiting news on Gerrit Cole, have re-engaged with the Chicago White Sox and made a new proposal for ace Dylan Cease, but the new offer once again did not include prized outfield prospect Spencer Jones.

Dylan Cease has been on the trade market all offseason, and the Yankees had engaged with the Pale Hose earlier in the winter, but the talks fell off and the ChiSox supposedly decided to hang on to their ace at least until the trade deadline.
But now, with the ominous news of Yankees ace and reigning Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole undergoing an MRI on his elbow, the Bronx Bombers want to try again on a new offer for Cease. And Yankees fans are pushing for a deal to get done.
Dear Brian Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner, please go out and get us Dylan Cease. Thank you.

The word is that this new offer does not include New York's No. 2 rated prospect Spencer Jones, whom the White Sox had wanted included the last time around.
After finishing as the runner-up in Cy Young award voting in 2022, Cease had a down year in 2023, with his ERA soaring over 2 1/2 runs higher per game to 4.58, and his WHIP ballooning equally as much (to 1.41). But interest in the 28-year-old remains high on the trade market.
