Top 3 Free Agent Destinations For Rejuvenated Starter Seth Lugo

Seth Lugo went to San Diego this past season and had himself a "prove it" year. He wanted to show the baseball world that he could be a starting pitcher once again after five years in the New York Mets bullpen. And show 'em, he did, posting a 3.57 ERA for the Padres with a 1.20 WHIP and a 140:36 K/BB ratio in 146 innings.

Recent reports have at least half of all major league teams showing interest in the rejuvenated starter. Let's have a look at three of the top landing spots for the 34-year-old.

Boston Red Sox

Despite his age, Lugo is expected to command a 3-year deal, and the Red Sox are in need of addressing their rotation. The Boston staff finished 21st in the majors with a collective 4.52 ERA last season. They're said to have made an offer to Lugo already.

Atlanta Braves

Insider Jon Heyman has reported that the Braves are in the bidding for Lugo, as the team looks to fill out the middle and back end of ts rotation after their one-two punch of Max Fried and Spencer Strider.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Just because they got Shohei Ohtani doesn't mean that the Dodgers are done this offseason. Their staring rotation for 2024 needs some help, with several pitcher out or just returning from serious injuries. LA was in on the Seth Lugo bidding last offseason, so it's no surprise that they're in on it again.

The Kansas City Royals, Arizona Diamondbacks and Cincinnati Reds have also been mentioned as Lugo suitors.
