Insider Reveals 3 Teams To Watch For Cody Bellinger

Cody Bellinger is the biggest name position player outside of Shohei Ohtani on the free agent market as the Winter Meetings ramp up. The former NL MVP returned to his impact form in 2023, batting .307 with 26 homers and 20 stolen bases with the Chicago Cubs, along with playing his typically elite defense in center field and first base.

With that, MLB Insider Jon Morosi has revealed his three teams to watch as prime Belli suitors.

Seattle Mariners

"I want to draw your attention to one team that cleared some payroll space (Monday) night," said Morosi on MLB Network. "With the Jarred Kelenic move, moving all that money out that was attached to Evan White and Marco Gonzalez, I can certainly see the Mariners being a great fit for Cody Bellinger. He's from the Phoenix area, the Mariners train in the Phoenix area."

San Francisco Giants

Another team looking for a big boost to its offense, the Giants are also said to be in the running to land Bellinger. They've got a ton of money to spend, and they've been trying to land a marquee player in free agency for a couple of years now.

Toronto Blue Jays

Morosi mentioned the Jays as another prime suitor for Bellinger, and they've got a big opening in their outfield to fill, as well as an offense that needs significant improvement. If they fail in their attempts to land either Shohei Ohtani or Juan Soto—both of whom they're said to be finalists on—then they could go all-in for Bellinger.

Other sources are reporting that the New York Yankees might actually be Bellinger’s personal choice.

Of course, the Cubs shouldn't be ruled out either, as Belli loved his time at Wrigley, and it obviously played well for him. Chicago wants him back.
