FREE AGENT SIGNING: Seth Lugo Finds New Home in American League

Seth Lugo bet on himself this past season, proving that he can indeed return to the starting rotation after half a decade in the bullpen, and he's turned that nice 2023 season as a starter into a 3-year free agent deal with the Kansas City Royals.

The contract is said to be worth $45M. The Royals beat out several teams who'd been interested in the 34-year-old. KC has been very active on the starting pitcher market this offseason.

Lugo signed a modest 2-year free agent deal with the San Diego Padres last offseason, but ensured that he had an opt-out clause in the event he performed as he'd hoped in the rotation. He finished the year with a 3.57 ERA in 26 starts, with an equally impressive 1.20 WHIP and a 140:36 K/BB ratio.

Mission accomplished, and he secures a nice bag from the Royals.
