Big Names Featured On The "All-Trade Rumor Team" For This Offseason

Baseball's hot stove season is well underway, with a couple of teams already dipping into the free agent market, and a few medium- to low-impact trades already being pulled off.

But there will be many more trades before spring training rolls around in February. Some huge names are out there in the rumor mill. With that in mind, let's take a look at the All-Trade Rumor Team for this offseason:

  • 1B: Pete Alonso, New York Mets
  • 2B: Jonathan India, Cincinnati Reds/Gleyber Torres, NY Yankees
  • SS: Willy Adames, Milwaukee Brewers
  • 3B: Nick Madrigal, Chicago Cubs
  • OF: Juan Soto, San Diego Padres
  • OF: Alex Verdugo, Boston Red Sox
  • OF: Dylan Carlson, Baltimore Orioles
  • DH: Eloy Jimenez, Chicago White Sox
  • SP: Tyler Glasnow, Tampa Bay Rays
  • SP: Dylan Cease, Chicago White Sox
  • SP: Corbin Burnes, Milwaukee Brewers
  • SP: Shane Bieber, Cleveland Guardians
  • RP: David Bednar, Pittsburgh Pirates

MLB Insider Jon Heyman has offered his thoughts on some of these, particularly in the rotation, where he puts the chances of a Glasnow trade at the highest, at 70%. Cease, he's hearing lots about, and puts that one at a 60% chance, but only 30% likelihood for Burnes, and even less for Bieber, at 20%, as he's coming off a down-year and Cleveland would not get full value.

As for the biggest names on the list, both to become free agents after 2024: Soto is almost surely to get dealt as the Padres are looking to slash salary, but Alonso seems very unlikely.

Heyman lists those chances at just 10%. "I don't see any reason why they wouldn't have him be their first basemann and re-visit at the end of the year... and I think they have a decent chance to re-sign him."

One third baseman has already been dealt, in a trade earlier on Wednesday between the Seattle Mariners and the Arizona Diamonbacks
