Arizona Diamondbacks Claim Catcher Off Waivers; DFA Outfielder

The Arizona Diamondbacks have been active in recent days, making significant moves to address both their catching situation and infield depth.

They claimed catcher Seby Zavala off waivers from the Chicago White Sox, seeing potential in his strong defensive skills despite his struggles at the plate this season.

Zavala's addition immediately placed him on the major-league roster, a move that signifies the Diamondbacks' commitment to improving their catching options.

In a corresponding move, the team decided to designate infielder Buddy Kennedy for assignment.

Kennedy, a 24-year-old with promising Triple-A performance, found it challenging to translate his success to the majors, posting a low batting average and high strikeout rate during his recent call-up.

His future with the organization now hangs in the balance as he hits waivers, leaving uncertainty surrounding whether he will be reassigned within the organization or explore free agency.

Zavala holds a .205/.268/.345 triple-slash line, with 14 home runs, 52 RBIs, a stolen base, and 53 runs scored across 169 games played across his four-year career. Photo Credit:  Andrew Dieb-USA TODAY Sports
