Report: Luke Voit Opts Out Of Contract With The New York Mets

The New York Mets have had a dreadful season thus far, and after trading Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander and Mark Canha among others at the trade deadline, it appears all of that spending this past winter didn't help them in the slightest.

Now, another talented veteran is gone from the organization, as veteran slugger Luke Voit has officially opted out of his minor league contract after joining the team and getting very hot at the Triple-A level in recent months.

In 37 games at the Triple-A level, Voit had 14 home runs, and now he hits the market again, and with many playoff caliber teams looking for a boost offensively, it's safe to say that he'll no doubt be drawing plenty of interest in the coming days.
