Detroit Tigers Release Andrew Knapp & 3 Others

The Detroit Tigers have made some subtractions to their depth, as they have released Andrew Knapp, Ashton Goudeau, Miguel Del Pozo, and Kervin Castro from their minor league contracts.

Knapp is the most notable name from this quartet, as he has a good chunk of MLB experience. However, he was not called up by the Tigers once this season. Instead, he played the entirety of this season in Triple-A, where he sported a .253 batting average in 70 games played. He will now be looking to find a new home before the completion of the campaign.

Goudeau has also not made an appearance for the Tigers this season. In 60.5 innings pitched this season down in Triple-A, he had a rough 7.42 ERA. Perhaps his struggles is what led the Tigers to move on from him.

As for Del Pozo and Castro, it was announced back in June that they both had Tommy John surgery. Due to this, their releases are entirely understandable, and they will hope to find new homes, even if they are going to be sidelined for quite some time.
