Three Teams That Could Target St. Louis Cardinals Superstar

The St. Louis Cardinals have arguably been the most disappointing team in all of baseball this season, falling to a 36-51 record at the half way point, and with many ageing stars on this team, there's no doubt that they could be sellers at the trade deadline.

It appears those stars are well aware of the possibility they get moved as well, as 8 time All-Star Nolan Arenado recently declared he 'wouldn't be shocked' if he was traded, so today, let's take a look at three teams that should be targeting the superstar third baseman.

New York Yankees

The New York Yankees have dealt with injury after injury this season, but still find themselves well in the hunt for a playoff spot in the American League, and with little production at third base, they make the most sense for a 10-time Gold Glove winner at the position.

They've got plenty of solid prospects to deal as well, and if they could land such a talented player at the plate and in the field, he's just what they need in the middle of the order, and given the Yankees history, he's not the only big name star likely to be targeted.

Arizona Diamondbacks

This is a team that few people saw contending in 2023 despite their rapid improvement, led by Rookie of the Year candidate Corbin Carroll, so adding more veteran power to the middle of this lineup will make them more than a genuine threat in the National League.

Given their young core of prospects, the Diamondbacks have a great chance to go all-in for a deep run this year, and while many will link them to former D-Backs star Paul Goldschmidt, Arenado certainly fits their need, and would give this lineup legitimacy as the year rolls on.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Unsurprisingly, the Los Angeles Dodgers are once again one of the top teams in the National League in 2023, but without Justin Turner at the hot corner for the first time in a long time, they are in the market for a star at the position.

They've still got one of the deepest prospect pools in all of baseball, and if they once again believe they can go and win a World Series, then landing someone like Arenado to give the lineup more depth and power, they will do what they can to make it happen.
