Texas Rangers & St. Louis Cardinals Complete Trade

The Texas Rangers are staying busy, as they have acquired Jordan Montgomery and Chris Stratton from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for Thomas Saggese, Tekoah Roby, and John King.

Montgomery was one of the most notable pitcher trade candidates heading into the deadline, and now he has found his new home with the Rangers. He will serve as a key part of their rotation as they gear up for the final portion of the season and then playoffs. In 21 starts this campaign, the southpaw has a 6-9 record to go along with a 3.42 ERA.

Stratton, on the other hand, gives the Rangers another veteran reliever to work with. The eight-year veteran has appeared in 42 games this season for the Cardinals, where he sports a 1-1 record to go along with a 4.36 ERA.

The Cardinals have become clear sellers after their truly disastrous 2023 season. We should expect to see them make more moves before the deadline passes.

Nevertheless, the Rangers are clearly going all in, and we will need to wait and see how well Montgomery and Stratton perform for them from here.
