MLB Insider: "Good Chance" Of Dodgers & Cardinals Blockbuster

The Los Angeles Dodgers are said to be in several "high stakes" trade talks, and according to MLB Insider Tom Verducci, the biggest blockbuster of all, a potential trade with the St. Louis Cardinals for 8-time All-Star Nolan Arenado, has a "good chance" of happening.

There's some rumors that pop up and you're like, 'that doesn't make any sense.' But this one makes sense!

I think there's a good chance that this could come to fruition. I think it makes a lot of sense.

Verducci points out that Arenado is a Southern California guy, and "always had a special place for Dodger Stadium. Has always called it home. I think he would enjoy that." He adds that the four years left on his contract aren't too cumbersome for the Dodgers to absorb (about $110M over the next four seasons).

He also outlines how a Dodgers trade of some of their fireballing young pitching prospects could really be something that St. Louis is looking for.

"The Cardinals need swing-and-miss pitchers in their organization. The Dodgers are loaded with young pitchers with swig-and-miss stuff.

"I really think it makes sense."

Arenado, in addition to those eight All-Star selections, has also been a Gold Glover at third base in each and every one of his complete 10 major league seasons. He's currently hitting .287 with an .857 OPS, along with 22 HR and 77 RBIs.

LA currently uses mainly Max Muncy at 3B, with Chris Taylor also filling in. Both players have other positions they could be shifted to.
