Toronto Blue Jays Option Struggling Pitcher

The Toronto Blue Jays come into 2023 full of expectations, but unfortunately, they've struggled to find momentum at all this year, and now, one of the biggest problems on the team has officially been optioned, but not to where you'd expected.

Alek Manoah has struggled in a big way this year, posting a 1-7 record with a 6.36 ERA through his first 13 starts, totalling just 58 innings over that time, with Toronto electing to option him back to the lowest minor league level possible in the Florida Complex League.

This comes on the heels of a 16-7 campaign in 2022 where he finished third in American League Cy Young voting, but unfortunately, it appears the new pitch clock rules have effected some more than others, with Toronto hoping a stint in rookie ball will help him find his form and confidence once more.
