Texas Rangers Officially Release Catcher After Being DFA'd

The Texas Rangers have been one of the best teams in all of baseball to start 2023, but even they've had some difficulties, and unfortunately, a struggling Sandy León behind the plate was one of those struggles, one that has now been dealt with.

After DFA'ing the 12-year veteran, Leon officially asked for his release in recent days, and now, the Rangers have granted his request, making him a free agent able to sign with any team in baseball effective immediately.

At 34-years of age, Leon's best years are certainly behind him, but with a great glove behind the plate and good veteran leadership, there will no doubt be a team out there looking for his services, and as for the Rangers, they could be in the market for a catcher at the trade deadline as they look to continue their big playoff push.
