San Francisco Giants Place Veteran Starter On Injured List

The San Francisco Giants have shown plenty of promise in recent weeks, and most of that is due to their pitching staff, but unfortunately, they aren't immune to the injury crisis hitting the MLB, as they have now had to place a veteran arm on the Injured List.

That veteran arm would be lefty Alex Wood, who will head to the IL with a back strain, leaving room for young Tristan Beck to get another shot at the major league level, but for a team lacking starting depth, this is a crucial blow.

In 8 appearances this season, Wood has racked up a 1-1 record with a 4.40 ERA in 30 innings of work, and while he may be past the peak of his powers, he's still a very effective arm, as shown by his recent 5.2 inning, 3 hit start against the Milwaukee Brewers, so the Giants will want him back as soon as they can.
