Pittsburgh Pirates Rumors: David Bednar Linked to Contender

The Pittsburgh Pirates may have started the year hot, but boy, have they been struck hard by reality since. They currently sport a 36-42 and have completely fallen off the map. Thus, they are gearing up to being sellers, and David Bednar has been discussed in the rumor mill.

One team has now emerged into the sweepstakes, as reports are surfacing that the Tampa Bay Rays are looking to bring in the reliever. It ultimately makes sense, as Tampa Bay could certainly use a boost in their bullpen as they prepare for the postseason. At the time of this writing, they sport an excellent 54-28 record.

Bednar has had another excellent season this year, as he sports a 2-0 record to go along with a 1.50 ERA and 15 saves. Needless to say, the All-Star closer is proving to be dominant again, and it will lead to several teams expressing interest in him. We will need to wait and see if the Rays' interest in him results in them becoming the winner of the sweepstakes from here.
