Padres Place Pitcher On Waivers After 2 Strong Seasons With Team

The San Diego Padres have made the decision to designate right-handed pitcher Nabil Crismatt for assignment.

This move comes after Crismatt struggled in the bullpen, posting a high 10.80 ERA before landing on the injured list due to a hip strain.

Despite his recent difficulties, the 28-year-old has been strong for the Padres in previous seasons, boasting a combined 3.39 ERA, with 136 strikeouts across 148.2 innings and 95 appearances over the past two years.

Crismatt began his major league career with the Cardinals in 2020 and signed a minor league deal with the Padres in 2021.

With a week to trade him or pass him through waivers, there is a chance he may attract interest from other teams based on his previous performances.

If he passes through unclaimed, Crismatt also has the option to elect free agency.
