Cincinnati Reds Officially Release Veteran Slugger

The Cincinnati Reds have been the hottest team in baseball over the past three weeks with the emergence of the electric Elly De La Cruz, but not everyone has been having a great year, and this has led to the release of a struggling veteran.

This week, the Reds announced they had DFA'd veteran slugger Wil Myers, and just days later, they officially released him after a very poor start to the year, and he will now hit free agency, likely to take a minor league deal to get his swing back with a chance to get back to the big leagues this year.

The former All-Star struggled to get back to his former level in 2023, as he hit just .189 with 3 home runs and 12 RBI's through 37 games, and now, he will head to free agency with likely plenty of suitors as the Reds get back Joey Votto and continue to roll to the top of the NL Central.
