Another Brutal Break For Chris Sale

It's not an unfamiliar sight, and certainly not unexpected. But nevertheless, it's another devastating blow to the Boston Red Sox pitching staff to see Chris Sale once again headed to the injured list.

He's been diagnosed with left shoulder inflammation, after he was finally rounding into form over his last six starts.

As always, he's blatantly honest about his situation, saying "it sucks."

"I was actually kind of getting used to sitting in front of you guys talking about good stuff," said Sale. "It’s been a rocky road. I felt like I was over the hump. I really did. I felt like I was back to being myself. And for something like this to happen, it's obviously deflating."

After starting the season with an 8.22 ERA in his first five starts, he has an ERA in the mid-2.00s over his last six starts, with a WHIP well under 1.00.

Coming into this season, Sale had only pitched 11 games over the previous three years since signing a 5-year, $145M contract. He's now made that many starts this year alone.
