BREAKING: Brewers Place Veteran Slugger On Waivers

The Milwaukee Brewers recently activated infielder Luke Voit from the 10-day injured list after he recovered from a neck injury.

However, despite completing a successful rehab stint with the Triple-A Nashville team, the Brewers have made the decision to designate Voit for assignment.

This move comes as a surprise, considering Voit's return to full health. The team has opted to stick with Darin Ruf as their preferred right-handed-hitting option at first base or designated hitter, leaving no available roster spot for Voit.

It is anticipated that if Voit goes unclaimed off waivers by another team, he will choose to enter free agency instead of accepting an outright assignment to Nashville within the Brewers organization.

The 32-year-old did not have a successful stint with the Brewers, slashing a measly .221/.284/.265, with no home runs, while also striking out 27 times.

Still, it's likely a team will take him on as a reclamation project. Photo Credit: Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports
