Yankees Place Key Reliever on IL; Recall Top Pitching Prospect

The New York Yankees have had to place a key bullpen piece on the injured list with, essentially, a dead arm. Michael King will be out for 15 days.

Aaron Boone says that they feel Michael King is healthy, but are just being precautionary placing him on the IL with general right arm soreness.

King has pitched just three innings so far this season, but has surrendered eight hits and two earned runs.

The 28-year-old himself said a couple of days ago that he feels like his timing is a little off:

To take his spot, the Yankees have not surprised anyone by recalling top pitching prospect Jhony Brito.

All Brito did in his first major league start five days ago was toss five shutout innings. He will get his second start in The Show on Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles.
