Top Three Left-Handed Relievers Still Remaining In Free Agency

Three left-handed relievers, Zack Britton, Will Smith, and Brad Hand, are still available on the free-agent market.

Each pitcher has found plenty of success in the majors and are no stranger to pitching in high-leverage situations, but struggled to some extent during the 2022 season.

Last season, Britton dealt with injuries and Hand struggled near the end of the season. However, Smith actually got better following his trade from the Atlanta Braves to the Houston Astros leaving his 4.38 ERA behind in Atlanta and posting a new 3.27 mark with Houston.

While Britton held a workout for six teams last month, there has been little news regarding Smith and Hand.

Hand earned $6 million last season with the Phillies, and had some interest from the Minnesota Twins this offseason, but nothing came of it. Over the last four seasons, he holds a strong 3.24 ERA over 189 innings and 206 appearances.

Perhaps, a reunion with the Cleveland Guardians, who lost lefty reliever Sam Hentges to injury, could be a fit for Hand, as he spent three seasons of his career with the club previously.

Regardless, there are still several capable options on the market and it shouldn't be too long before they are all signed. Photo Credit: Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
