St. Louis Cardinals Place Pitcher On Waivers

The St. Louis Cardinals have made a move to accommodate their promising outfield prospect Jordan Walker, designating left-handed pitcher Anthony Misiewicz for assignment and opening up a spot on their 40-man roster.

Misiewicz is expected to remain with the team's Triple-A affiliate, the Memphis Redbirds, as an additional relief option, barring he's claimed off waivers by another team, of course.

Misiewicz, who was acquired by the Cardinals from the Kansas City Royals in February after he was removed from their 40-man roster, will now go through the waiver process again.

The 28-year-old lefty posted a 4.34 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts over 29 innings of work last season.

For his career, spanning three seasons, he holds a 4.43 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 105 strikeouts across 103.2 innings.

In short, the Cardinals made the move to make room for their top prospect, and Misiewicz has been designated for assignment once again. Photo Credit:  Jim Rassol-USA TODAY Sports
